How can liatris ever compete with those showy yellow lilies, brazen beauties that steal the show because: 1) they are as crispy and fresh as snap, crackle, pop cereal, especially the one almost center stage; and 2) they stick out like sore thumbs in a setting of subdued purples and greens. As soon as those lily buds pop, the game is truly over for the liatris.
