baked: turkey, broccoli, mornay (bechamel and cheddar cheese) sauce
This is a simple and satisfying dish that is covered in any good general-purpose cookbook.
It can be used with leftover chicken (roasted or boiled, etc.) or turkey.
Take shallow ovenproof casserole. Break up or shred leftover chicken by hand into chunks.
Layer with cut up broccoli florets (fresh or frozen). Season with salt and pepper.
Prepare Mornay sauce (see cookbook or search Internet for recipe) with Cheddar cheese.
Pour over chicken and broccoli, coating all. 350 F oven 45 minutes or until bubbling and golden.
(Note: sauce need not completely cover other ingredients. I usually prepare too much).
Allow to cool a bit before serving. A satisfying if not "heart-friendly" dish. I loved it as a kid.
