UPDATE - As of January 23rd, 2009, Microsoft has indefinitely postponed development of Train Simulator 2 and closed the ACES studio responsible for development of Train Simulator, Flight Simulator, and Microsoft ESP. I no longer work for the company. I leave these images here for the time being only as a sample of what we were building. --Rick

Please tell me this is a joke that the plug is being pulled on the Microsoft Train Simulator 2?? After seeing thoese / these Out Standing Graphics for which is having all of railroaders foaming at the mouth for it;Im actually having heart failure thinking about this. I don't know about the other fellow railroaders;and the again maybe Im speaking for them too!! But since my neighbor bought over a demo of / about the new Simulator,and after seeing thoese graphics. I've been really sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for this thing to come you...What in Thee Hell Happened there???? This is a damn good, and really beyond good product. Now..what are we supposed to do after this carrot been danglin in all of out faces??? Rick you Are Thee Man..Save Us....Danny

Has this actually been cancelled or just postponed??? I have a very upset 11 year old who has been waiting for this for a long time, and now i have to tell him, it might not ever be released! If it was almost completed, why not complete it and earn some money back???

rick on your blog it said that the (great looking)NS dash 9 was the first norfolk southern locomotive, but isn't it the second? it all looking great too question: in the first real photos given there was a NS gp38 in it, on some route. now, will that be included, and is it for the BNSF of NS?

Correct - the cab interior depicts a Norfolk Southern SD70. The exterior model is obviously a BNSF Dash 9. We are still working on the SD70 exterior and Dash 9 interior. -Rick

I believe the cabview in TrainSimulator_New_7.jpg belongs to the NS SD70 that was pictured in one of the original press release shots.

Any CN/CP/VIA Rail in the new game? And, in image "new 7". the windows are up and down, but in "new 8", the are the regular dash 9 windows, sideways. this is probaly for the game, so you can see better, but...

I can't recall who it was (either rick or mike), but one of them did confirm in a post on the train-sim.com forums that there would be a multiplayer function in the new game.

i heard some of the original msts routes will be featured as well. i was told marias pass would be on the new sim. i would love to see cajon pass,tehachapi,and stevens pass modeled on MSTS2

Beauty may be in the eye of the graphics card....I find the pics WONDERFUL! on my machine. My wish list: old-time steam, 40lb rail on weathered ties, lots of weeds. But don't imagine for a second that I won't buy TS2 if those things aren't in the box; I'll buy one right now if MS will sell it!

I really couldnot care lessa about graphics and such "eye-candie" cravings everybody has. I really want a simulator that is asolutely correct in every physical detail and behavior, flexible enough to be able to incorportate the most tipes of systems in worldwide railwyws (being one sustem in one Scenario/Route, or multiple ssystems in one single scenario/route) and most of all, to have the necessary tools for peripherals (raildriver...) and suport groups of comunities (such has happens with virtual airlines in MSFS... and Iam not talking just about Multi-player)

These screens are not a qauntum leap from MTSS 1 textures...a long way to go and to be honest I havent seen anything posted that really is outstanding with the excption of the physics mentioned by the MS team

Everything looks very detailed. However, with photo #2, the track ties look like they are curved as though they follow the crown of the roadbed. It may be an optical elusion, but I just thought I would mention it. Otherwise, the scenery looks great. It is good to see that BNSF is going to be represented along with some older ATSF rolling stock. Since you are telling the world that Horseshoe Curve will be featured...which most of us MSTS forum users know to be most likely a make use of the cessation of MSTS-2 a couple of years ago. What routes other than Horseshoe Curve will be included. Now that KRS is out, finding out what you guys will provide might incourage a lot of us yanks to wait for MSTS-X rather than to get started with KRS.

Beautiful looking models & ROW, though the Dash 9 would look so much better with higher quality textures (I assume these are in the works). Also, is there any solution to the hard edges that appear along either side of the tracks as they head into the distance? (I know this occurs in all other train sims that I know of, just curious).

It happens with MSTS1, with the error that was not designed for Microsoft Teams but for kuju. Now,at last, we can enjoy a really Microsoft Train Simulator. Thanks
