Spotted this guy (gal?) out in my backyard at about 6:30 this morning; I’m at Ames Lake, east of Redmond, WA, at the south end of the lake between Ames Lake Drive and 280th.

He looked to be about 25-30 pounds, and he was really interested in whatever was hiding under my deck, which was probably one of the many stray cats in the area. After circling my deck for about 20 minutes, he sat on my rock wall and waited, patiently, for whatever it was to appear. He only got spooked when he saw me and my house cat Moose watching him through the window (last several images).

I’ve lived out at Ames Lake since 1994 and this is the first bobcat that I’ve seen in the neighborhood, although there have been regular reports of other sightings over the years.

For those who've asked - camera was a Canon 50D with a 70-200 F2.8L lens (non-IS). Hand-held in the low morning light at a high ISO, unfortunately, which is why all the images are soft when blown up. I should have grabbed the tripod, but I didn't know how long he'd wait around for me to get my photographic act together. Hoping he'll come back at some point so I can try again....
