22 Feb, firefighters were called to a fire at the new apartments behind the Hampton Inn, while enroute firefighters could see a column of smoke in the area; however arriving on scene the smoke had disappeared. An investigation of the complex found a soot covered garage door on one of the 600 series apartments, handlines were pulled and firefighters forced entry to the garage to locate a fire in the front half of the garage. The fire had been burning for sometime unnoticed, in fact the occupants were in the home and unaware of the fire until the fire department arrived. The blaze was quickly extinguished and contained to the garage; however, the garage and a vehicle in the garage received significant damage.
