After two days of heavy motor-sailing to get here, we decided to stay in Vero for a couple of days to rest and shop for a satellite radio. Vero Beach is a great place for boaters to stop. Everything is within easy reach using the county's free bus service. Most cruisers normally stay longer than planned, thereby earning Vero the nickname Velcro Beach. The sun came out this afternoon, following the morning rains. It shone bright enough to provide Shibumi with enough energy to run our refridgerator and freezer for two, maybe three, days; without having to charge the batteries with the diesel engine or gas powered generator. That translates into several hours of laptop energy, but keeping four-months worth of food cold and/or frozen takes first priority. Click here for my on-line journal: AS I SEE IT |
