June 1 and 2, 2008

view map

After seeing the space shuttle launch our trip home took two days.

The closer we got to home the more we realized how much we will miss the sights and sounds of the the waterway when we go back to living on the land.
They are hard to photograph, but the image to the right is a family of manatees that I had to turn to avoid in the Intra-coastal Waterway between Titusville and Daytona Beach.
We traveled part of the way with another sistership of Shibumi; the sailing vessel Banjo. Tom and Donna, who sail Banjo, live in and around the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao) of the Caribbean. They are cruising in the United States for the summer before returning to the Caribbean in the late fall or winter.

Wow! You got manatees! I just got bubbles.....I'm glad you got home safe and sound but I'm sure you'll miss the water. There's always next year!

lovely images of the final leg of your voyage. I think I would be ready to be on land for a while. :)
