30-AUG-2006

August 30, 2006

Sometimes things just don't go as planned.
Some of the grout at the base of our shower tiles was getting somewhat... well it looked...

...Let's just say the house is 18 years old and the grout looked bad.
Jill bought a tube of silicone adhesive caulking material
and we proceeded to pull out the offensive old grout.
Our first clue that this wasn't going to be simple
was water behind the grout. A lot of it.
We quit when the tiles started to collapase in front of wallboard that had absorbed water.
Our less than $10.00 job is now taking a bead our savings account.

We looked at what seemed like hundreds of samples at our local tile store.
But I had my eye on the tile with earthtones from the moment we walked through the door.
Obviously this will be continued...

I thank all of you for the well wishes in your comments to yesterday's PaD.
The tropical weather system we had prepared for is giving us some rain and threats of tornados,
but things have been relatively calm right up to the time of this post.

Make sure it's dried out and de-mildewed before you seal it up.
You never know what might grow in there...
:^O

Just took a look at the weather, such good news it has been down graded! I would go with the rich tones too:)))

Oh I know how you feel. Bit of a shock eh what? Take two Tylenol and get a good nights rest! ;-)

Excellent candid. Good luck as well--we're currently in the same boat with our downstairs bathroom and I'm afraid it'll be a bigger job than we planned as well....
