His name is Barney. He is visiting Flagler Beach from Gainesville.
Barney built the sand castle, seen in yesterday's PaD, for his grandkids.
His says it held their interest for a few hours, but the lure of the ocean eventually won their attention.

Very nice photo. I can smell the salt air and feel the breeze. If I close my eyes I can hear the surf, too.

this looks like our beach . . . .I guess most beaches on the east coast do
we have a sand sculpting contest and display in late September that is the bomb . . . but this guy really has class to do something so cool for the kids =)

Cool series. I've never been any good at building sand castles. Those seaside sculptors always amaze me with their creations and I can't even do anything with a bucket. :) And now I'm singing Jimi, "And so castles made of sand, fall in the sea,
eventually." Dating myself here. :) I love the solitary figure with the bright umbrella against the grays.
