We finally saw the Atlas V rocket launch.
We were two days south of the launch site by the time it got off,
but got a clear view of it as it streaked toward Pluto.

Thanks Ben, I made the change from Saturn V to Atlas V.

Nice shot, however the Saturn V rocket was the one that took astronauts to the moon on Apollo missions from 1968 to 1972.

New Horizons was launched on top of an unmanned rocket called an Atlas 5.
