The feel of warm sunshine on my skin and the smell of fresh sea air makes all of the work on a sailboat well worth it. We moved aboard ship five days ago. So far, we anchored in three places. Each anchorage had a different feel.

Anchoring near Ponce Inlet was well away from the glare of city lights. The moon, the stars, and the dolphins put on a show for us.

When we dropped the hook near Titusville, the area had an industrial tone. Freight trains rumbled by onshore several times at night. Distant lights marked the space center that is going through a major mission change. Over the last eight years, we watched three dramatic space shuttle launches from the river near Titusville. We hope to see more launches in the future as the Kennedy Space Center re- tools with new technology.

I'm writing this at anchor near Cocoa Village. We like to stop here because the village has a laid-back aura. Most of the people we meet here are progressive thinkers. They are friendly and have a positive outlook towards the future. We can normally catch some local bands or solo acts playing, either in the riverside park or one of the clubs. Not to mention the Murdock's has the best fried chicken on earth, since my mother stopped making it.

Tomorrow we will pick-up the anchor and find a place, away from city lights, to hangout for a couple of days. We'll look for a spot where the only man-made sound, after dark, will be the music coming from Shibumi's stereo.
