With the advent of the television, DVD's and the Internet Chinese people no longer support the Beijing Opera. The opera survives now solely by visits from tourists. I must admit that I found the singing screechy and in a strange key... my cultural tastes may have been somewhat dampened by being tired from a long flight and a full day of activies. However, the show was very colorful and extremely well choreographed.
