Here's the Before picture of the big maple tree in the back yard |
 Beginning the process |
The first branches are heart-stopping as they thunk into the ground |
Then it gets tougher working around the power lines |
Here's how they held the lines aside; they also used ropes to tie them either closer to the tree or further away |
This is a sequence of several photos showing cutting a large branch at the bottom |
While holding it up at the top |
and letting the bottom fall down to the ground |
and then suspending it while pieces are then cut off the bottom |
They took out a piece of the fence to walk the brush thru to the street and to reach the neighbor's yard |
 working working |
cutting cutting --- like a careful puzzle |
the view from the side yard |
Here's how it looked above the house (in the back) |
In the middle of it, Don took the dogs out for a walk! |
About this time, the wind started to kick up!! |
The view over the house again |
Taking these tops off really made the big branches sway |
But they reduced the wind drag, so they didn't swing in the wind as much |
 cutting cutting |
This and the next two photos is another sequence of how they took down the last top |
See the guys pulling on the bottom? |
Now they pulled the power lines towards the tree..... |
and dropped the pieces over them |
view over the house again |
Now pull the wires away from the tree |
and guide the trunk down easy between the fence and the house! |
 climbing! |
 cutting |
 crunch! |
Here's the hole in the front free, where we'll be removing a large branch |
Climbing up in the tree; they'll also remove some of the branches to lighten out the top |
After view in the back yard! |
They suspended the pieces of the branch from upper branches and swung them |
into our neighbor's yard (who wanted the wood) |
 There it goes! |
See the dark area in the middle; this was the weak area where the trunks came together |
Here's the 'after' in the front! |
The hole is still there, but the pressure of the large branch is gone! |
Side yard after photo in the back yard! |
