Lovely lovely place i was there in the mid 60's great memories of parcels and postal orders from my maw Swimming in the sea long never ending walks and on one occasion a visit to the cinema.loved going to the village on a Saturday to stock up on sweeties. Not so keen on the walk to church though.happy days.

I was there mid sixties I loved it parcels and postal orders every week from my mammie I was about 11 I think The place looked huge to me back then Being a wee govan urchin living with my maw and da and 7 sibling in a single end I am 67 now,and the 6 weeks i was there were the best weeks of my life I remember the 2 collie dugs the teacher had and the time he took us all for a walk Along the beech and spun a yarn about captain kids 2 years later i went to castle Howard or was it castle towers It was a horrible place the kids used to run away all the time hoping to be sent home.

My name is ken went there early 60s or mid 60s dont really know why i was sent there .remember waiting by the big bomb in central station. my mum thought i was going for 2weeks we had only just moved to drumchapel fron whiteinch, can remember having to walk to the tuck shop and church, loved trying to fish from the rocks, first time i had seen a sea urchin , great day out to Rothsay bought a large sheath knife which was confiscated when i got home . Yea great memories Apart from bread and butter pudding still cant stand it..

I was there around 1963 was 13 at the time I remember going down by the water looking for shells and fossils, playing football on the pitch one goalpost down the bottom and the other at the top of a hill lol going to church on a Sunday and the shop for sweets on a saturday the teachers used to take some of us to pensioners houses to dig their gardens and move large stones because they couldn't manage to move then,I remember making two leather purses for my two granny's in the craft classes they loved them, i lived in a large dormitory, with another 15 or so boys,one i remember in particular was nicknamed cookie,

Hi Just saw this page. I was there in the late 60's and totally loved the place. I came from Govan and recall a boy from the Winealley called Hammy and twins from Bridgeton called the Conky brothers . I might have been one of the youngest boys cause i recall getting a few doings. Playing football every evening was great and it was really cool to be away from our tenement in Govan. The headmaster was a kind of Jekyl and Hyde character who could be really kind one minute and go totally mental the next especially if anybody complained. Never really understood what discussions took place to see me sent there but no complaints.

I went to Colintraive in 1958 aged 10 and hated every minute of it. I remember Mr Crabb and his wife also Mr Jarvis. Lack of proper education for six weeks had a serious lasting effect and when I returned to Mosspark Primary school I had to go into the bottom division previously in the top 10 in a class of 44. I passed my 11+ but never fully caught up and left Bellahouston School aged 15

Went there late 50s early sixties Remember Mr Crabbe and his dogs ( massive) great memories. I came from drumchapel; and attended cleddans primary and then Kingsridge. 64 now and still kicking. Thinking about the past a lot now. Best wishes to all. Ian Hillon.

Hi peeps, I was there late 60s, it was the first time away from home, my dad who raised us himself had bought me pygamas and they had wee lambs and other pictures on them the first time I wore them was on the thursday in the tv room watchin top of the pops, I got roasted lol seemed a big deal then now I just smile, those were the days my freind was num1, i had a great time and remember collecting shells from the beach and dodgin two dangerous bros wi donkey jackets lol, hope you are all well.

who remembers the old school song... to the hills of colintrive to the shores of bubble gum bay we shall fight the teachers in battle with stink bombs mud and clay we shall fight for rights and freedom to keep our desks in a mess as teachers as they know us as teachers number one pest can remember singing this with the class as they trudged us all aroon the hills in oor wellies... lol

i also went to the residential school in the 60's for 6 weeks, i remember the football pitch one end higher than the other and we would go on the saturday to the post office to buy our gob stoppers that we gambled away playing 5 stones during the week, and last but no least the digestive biscuits and glass of milk before bedtime..... coby haghill primary school dennistoun glasgow.....

i was there in 1963 for 6weeks and entered for the kinlochruel cross country championships the headmaster entered me in the senior class of runners without my knowledge i was only 14 then and was competing agains proper much older athletes.the athletes came from all over and i didnt even know what way to go i just kept up with the rest of the field of runners untill the final stretch and kicked in and won the race my only running competition to this day .to this day its my best achievement in sport and i can only thank the headmaster at the school for having faith in me

hello spent 2 periods at residential school in colintraive loved every minute i was there the only thing i hated was long walk back from church every sunday been back a few times brings back a lot good memory's sorry 2 c the old school been sold thank,s for the photo,s
