Apsley Cherry Garrard was the junior member of Scott's 1911 Expedition. He later wrote "The Worst Journey in the World"; a classic of travel/exploration literature. The journey of the title is the mid-winter walk from Cape Evans to Cape Crozier and return (to collect Emperor penguin eggs) which took 6 weeks.
