I spent 16 month in China from March 1985-June 1986. It was shortly before Tianamin Square.The country was opening up to foreigners. There was a lot of optimism. I met great people and was profoundly humbled and moved by my experience. I was newly married and to add to the experience, our first son was born in Guangzhou.
