Weymouth/Portland, Great Britain
Beach shacks near Portland Bill lighthouse |
Then it was back to Weymouth, passing the Sea Life Tower. It was a bit pricey, so I passed it by - but it DID look fun! |
Back at the harbour, I took the short rowboat trip with a very polite English family, & asked them to take my picture |
It was a cheap, fun, fast way to get across the water - and all the kids, big and small, loved it! |
From the ship I looked for & found the King George III chalk carving on a hill not far from Portland |
White cliffs of the Jurassic Coast, sailboat & swimmers, viewed from the ship |
Sigh - our last dinner on Marina, in our favorite eating place. Howard's favorite restaurant manager was there to comfort us. |
For sailaway, while most people were (unfortunately) at dinner, Weymouth/Portland provided a 3-gun salute. |
What a great way to end another fabulous cruise, and a wonderful visit to the UK & Norway! |
We sailed past one of the fortifications in Portland harbour & off toward Southampton |
And there was a beautiful sunset, too - with Weymouth's Sea Life Tower popping up above the horizon |
The next morning it was all business, as we left Southampton's QE terminal to get to Heathrow for our UA flight home. |
