Our second visit to Valletta. First time the awesome view of fortifications on either side of Valletta harbor weren't happening as we arrived, as it was very cloudy. This time the view was better, with all the honey colored stone surrounding us on two sides as we came in. Sunrise would have been awesome, but I settled for pretty good at 10 AM. For this second visit we decided to go out of the city. We found a taxi tour which took us to Marsaxlokk and Mdina, with a park on the way back. I had taken a public bus to Marsaxlokk on the first visit. But taxi was better. I missed a great shot of Mdina on the way there, and hope to photograph that sight some day.Later I went back off the ship to go up the Barrakka Lift for views, plus a little exploration of the immediate area around the port. For dinner we ate outside on the Terrace and found there was something special going on over at the neighboring cruise ship, which was Viking Mars. We and other folks clapped loudly when we saw Tors, the chairman of Viking, appear with others. Apparently Mars was going to leave on her inaugural cruise and they were christening her with a bottle attached on a pulley. Roland (I think) the Red was there, as were Katrine Hagan and her daughter. Many of us Oceania cruisers like Viking as well, so it was fun for the Viking lovers to spy on the Mars until we had to leave. As dusk fell, Sirena left her spot in between Viking Mars and a huge NCL ship, and headed out of the harbor. There were some lights on the fortifications in the harbor - pretty!
