Missed Trapani due to weather on a previous cruise. Thrilled to see it this time. I saw new lighthouses on the way to the port, then salt mines, then city. Docked right in the city harbor. Headed to the "Misteri" 17th & 18th century wooden statues at Chiesa Anime Sante Del Purgatorio 4 blocks from cruise terminal. Church was open, almost completely deserted, and the 20 statues were on display around the church walls. Each had a plaque indicating what's portrayed & which town group (bakers, pasta makers, seafarers, metallurgists, etc.) gets to carry the statue in a Trapani procession during Easter Week. Next I explored things on my "visit" list - Torre de Ligny, bastion and seafront walk, fish market, former fish market, Orological Clock, etc. Trapani was a very pretty city. Howard took a shorter, straighter walk from the ship to the waterfront and back. I didn't get to Erice, a hilltop town next to Trapani, but probably could have it I hadn't spent so much time in Trapani itself.
