Santiago de Compostela, Spain

On April 26, 2023 our cruise ship docked at 7 AM in Vilagarcia, Spain. The biggest attraction in this area is Santiago de Compostela, the end point for El Camino de Santiago, The Way of St. James. We didn't have a long time in Vilagarcia, and I got a late start at getting to Santiago, but at least I saw the basics. The shuttle took me to a place that wasn't all that helpful, but I found a taxi stand & got to Santiago's small train station. The one person selling tickets spoke no English, but I managed. And within a half hour I was on a train to Santiago. Once back, in the late afternoon, as our ship sailed out of Vilagarcia, we were treated to views of miles of mussel farms plus a number of modest lighthouses. I ended up seeing 5 lighthouses in the area. At this point my count of lighthouses seen was rapidly approaching 600.

Unsurprisingly, religious buildings & statues are everywhere. The city has 40 churches!
