Woke up in Paphos, Cyprus. Tendered in, then walked to see some old things! |
Entrance to Archaeological Park, town clock, and local bus |
On to the ruins of Agia Kyriaki Chrysopolitissa & St Pauls Pillar. |
There was a small chapel inside filled with icons. Only one person was there, although I passed an Orthodox priest outside. |
Inside was small but beautiful |
Walkways around St. Pauls Pillar & the church were closed. Shot church from behind. |
Went to find Kolones Castle, got 1st sight of Paphos light. A nearby worker told me how to get to the lighthouse. |
Walked down to the Park & made a beeline to the lighthouse & Odeon. Steps were being power washed! |
I waited patiently for the workers to move out of my photo! |
I felt guilty standing on this very old stone but there were no fences.... |
In another corner of the Park were the ruins of Saranda Kolones castle from 1200 AD |
 Loved the ruined arches |
Tried to get the lighthouse in an arch but it didn't quite work. |
Hot and tired, I almost left. But then I saw my shot....(lighthouse 575 for me) |
Back to the ship, then out later with Howard to walk along the waterfront. He saw a huge iguana - strange! |
A woman was nearby, and she picked it up. |
She put it on her back & walked down the boardwalk |
I guess it was a pet iguana - strange! |
Woman & pet iguana on beach by Howard |
But there was another surprise. Howard & I watched as a pelican strolled across the boardwalk & into a cafe. |
 Pelican in the cafe |
Howard found this sign very amusing - I guess we are "unnecessary people" |
Tendered back to the ship. Even the tender driver was hot, and he's probably from the Phillipines! |
