Flew to SF on Virgin America, rented car & drove to Inverness for night at an AirBnB. These "people" greeted me. |
Took a walk along Tomales Bay, very close to where we stayed |
Duck decoys all in a row |
Inverness & Tomales Bay are very peaceful, about an hour and a half north of SF. |
 Boats on Tomales Bay |
I walked down the road to find this enchanting dacha on Tomales Bay |
 Rocks and ramps |
 Kayaks |
 Canoo, birch and flower |
 Kayak rental |
In the morning we drove to Pt Reyes National Seashore. Here are calf pens on one of the rented dairy farms |
These farms are rented from U.S. government and have been here a LONG time. |
We had to slow for a deer on the road |
To see Pt Reyes lighthouse, have to walk a path. Here's when you get close to lighthouse. |
The rocks around the lighthouse were covered with ice plants |
The lighthouse had just closed due to high winds and the long walk down to get to it. I took photos from the fence. |
 Closeup 200 mm |
 Striated rocks |
 Red lichen |
Coastline from walk to lighthouse |
Back in Inverness, we discovered this boat |
 Launch for hire |
 Tomales Bay |
Drove back to SF. There it is - my favorite road (Alexander Ave. to Battery Spencer) |
No visit to Battery Spencer because Howard had a tiring drive, but at least I could photograph the bridge. |
Do vegans really taste better? I've never tried one. |
Holy Virgin Cathedral on Geary in Richmond area of SF |
I can't believe I never saw this before - U of SF Lone Mountain campus - arch with St. Ignatius in background |
Such a pretty campus, with wonderful landscaping. |
Classic shot from Alamo Square. Next time I'll try from Ida Lewis School to get more of downtown. |
Another new place for me: Tiled steps at 16th & Moraga |
 View from top |
Area is covered with flowers; community effort |
 Loved the colored cactus |
We enjoyed dim sum with Nacho, Marge and Chad, who had to leave early. Sorry it was a hassle driving/parking - damn parade! |
Hope this guy has good brakes, as we're down here coming up! |
 Ruins of Sutro Baths |
Surf from Sutro Bath tunnel. Sea was rough. |
Swung through Golden Gate Park. A school group was eating lunch at the Conservatory |
Ruth goofing around at Palace of Fine Arts. Someone offered to take my picture. |

 Night heron in pond |
Ugh. Howard pointed out this dog in a backpack on the BART escalator. |
After taking the rental car back, we took BART to the Ferry Building for lunch. |
These sinks in the Ferry Building restroom worked well - no bowls, just use of gravity! |
We ended up with serious delays and an unplanned overnight on the ship. Here's downtown & the lighted Bay Bridge from the ship. |
 Sign from ship |
 Coit closeup from ship |
I seldom visit Fisherman's Wharf, but I since we were so close, I went. I like Coit Tower with flags! |
Old exhibits outside the Maritime Museum |
Early the next morning, I took the steps to nearby Coit, seeing cool things along the way. |
Walked along the Embarcadero near Pier 27. Saw cool new things. |
 Boats everywhere! |
House band members in Horizons were trying to get us old folks to dance, but most of us were tired and cranky! |
 The F streetcar |
10 AM the next day we finally left for Alaska. I said goodbye to my favorite U.S. city. |
Alcatraz from Regatta as we sailed out |
Under the bridge we go. Fort Point & it's lighthouse were visible. |
I've photographed this bridge SO many times. To cruise under it was a treat. Lime Point looks very small down there. |
Today the bridge looks particularly international orange |
 Even Howard took pictures |
Forget what this Marin viewpoint is called, but of course I've been there! |
Cool seeing Pt Bonita lighthouse from the water. Saw Diablo, Lime, Mile Rocks, Ocean Beach, Letterman Hospital too - different! |
