Howard enjoying our veranda as we approach our tender location in Nha Trang, Vietnam |
After a short tender ride we & 2 others met our guide. First we visited the Long Son Buddhist Temple with its 2 Buddha statues. |
Here's the 1st one - a reclining Buddha about half way up the hill |
 Buddha's feet |
A steeper climb took us to the big Buddha |
Delicate & dressed couple at Long Son |
Colorful lamps near the temple |
There were so many beautiful decorations all over Vietnam. |
 Long Son |
We also visited the 8th century Ponager towers (Cham towers) just north of Nha Trang. |
8th century Ponager Towers (Thap Ba Tower of Lady) |
 One of 4 towers - each one commemorates/honors a different deity |
Guide Sharmay took our photo. The goddess Ponager was praised for knowledge of agriculture & civilization. |
Lunch was at a healthy restaurant. Sharmay fixes healthy soup for us. |
Then the rest of our lunch came. |
Then it was off to get massages. Everyone's photographing FEET being soaked - before custom 1 hour massages. |
Then to visit a fishing village, we rode south a bit, walked a bit & boarded a boat Sharmay had called. |
It was definitely an authentic fishing village |
With beautiful boats and lots to photograph |
One of many colorful boats |
Coracles (boats used to get between fishing boats/go ashore) |
 Fishing village scene |
We walked along the shore & saw a mom helping this boy with breakfast |
Unfortunately, there was no water cleanup going on here |
Lots of coracles near the waterfront |
Coming ashore, probably from a fishing boat |
We saw the lights on shrimp boats to attract shrimp to surface at night. (Not used in U.S.) |
This is what we saw night before as we cruised to Nha Trang. Someone told us what lights were (shrimp boats). |
We walked through the village. Everyone rides scooters; all kids love ice cream! |
We stopped for dessert & coffee on the porch of a local |
The remnants of an old fun house |
Back in town, we stopped for a minute at Agarwood Tower by the beach |
Along the waterfront, people walked, biked, skateboarded |
 Yes, it's a Communist country! |
Nha Trang Opera House, similar to Saigon's but not as pretty |
The ship left Nha Trang at 6. The ferris wheel from Vinpearl Park across the way was colorful. |
