Naples

Woke up the next morning as we approached Naples in partial darkness. The sunrise was incredible. I spent the morning sightseeing on my own using public transportation. Then Howard joined me for the included tour. It was only so-so, but given it was New Year's Day and much of the city closed, it was OK. Naples is gritty and not all that safe. Traffic is horrible, though that morning less so than normal. However, there's lots to photograph, and lots to enjoy if you just overlook a few undesirable things. Viking did a very nice brunch for New Year's Day. We ended up having another almost-half day in Naples, as the ship's Captain decided not to stop in Trapani, Sicily as originally planned for that day. Sigh! Hate itinerary changes. Viking offered a trip to the Archeological Museum (quite respected) but I just went back out into Napoli.
