December 5, 2024 - Flew to Miami for a cruise. Stayed at an AirBnB in Little Havana and embarked our ship 2 days later. We enjoyed a wonderful Portuguese lunch with friend Jorge, ate dinner at Versailles, photographed lifeguard stations and elephants, and boarded Marina. Due to Art Week traffic, I had to abort a trip to Miami's beautiful/sobering Haulocaust Memorial. But at least during this fiasco Howard managed to score a last minute free room upgrade because someone needed the accessible room that Oceania had placed us in as a result of our "Guarantee" on an oceanview room. Our cruise turned out to be a very international and surprising one. There were guests from Australia, Greece and more, waiters from South Africa, a receptionist named Saffron and a cruise director called Ms Limerick. I even met someone who attended my alma mater when I was there. Part of the fun of cruising is meeting people from around the world.
