Maine for the Puffins - June 2008
I was bound and determined to find Boulder Beach in Acadia. I did, but it was not as special as I had thought... |
Bass Harbor, early the next morning. |
I took a ferry from Bass Harbor to Swans Island, a 40 minute trip. I was one of the few there for the 7 AM trip. |
The Burnt Coat Harbor lighthouse was in bad shape, with the insulation hanging out in the back. It needs restoration BADLY. |
A lobster boat passes one of the buildings at Burnt Coat. |
Near Burnt Coat, I stopped to photograph the lighthouse sculptures in people's yards. |
These buoys really stood out in the Swans Island early morning fog. |
More buoys, and some traps. |
The lighthouse at Prospect Harbor. Howard and I found it when we visited Acadia before, but I wanted to visit it again. |
On the way to Lubec, I saw this lighthouse replica sitting in a pond by the side of the road. |
In Lubec, I stayed for $90 in a converted Coast Guard station. Wonderful! In Stonington, I stayed at Boyce's Motel. |
West Quoddy Head Station, a bed without the breakfast - but there WAS a kitchen next to the bed! |
