Maine for the Puffins - June 2008

Went to Maine to see the puffins at Machias Seal Island, plus previously unvisited lighthouses. Traveled from Portland to Campobello Island and back in five days, seeing 17 new lighthouses, a ton of breeding puffins, and some new places and islands I had not visited before during trips with Howard or by myself. It was muggy, buggy and often foggy, but ALWAYS fun, and I think I took some of my best pictures ever!

The Pemaquid Point Hotel, where I stayed. It's kind of an old fashioned place. Kind of different!

By the time I left Pemaquid, the sun had come out and it was actually very nice.

Boats and lilies outside a store on the way to Camden. (In Camden I looked for Curtis Isl light, but no luck - fog!!)

The Fort Point light in Stockton Springs turned out to be a beautiful one, and there was wonderful sun while I was there!

Penobscott Narrows Bridge, where you can go up to the top for a look-see. It's a beautiful bridge, and I wish I had gone up.
