June 2010 - Butterflies, Flowers and Lighthouse Preservation
Aboard the "Audacious" on the way out to the lighthouse, which is about 4 miles offshore in the Bay |
Approaching the lighthouse: I worked mostly on the 4th floor - the one with the portholes, barely visible here. |
A ladder had recently been installed to facilitate our work. Here's the top part, as seen from the Audacious on approach. |
Captain Howard, getting us close to the lighthouse |
Mason Chuck pitched in to help Henry unlock the cover on the ladder. |
Up I go! (Thanks for the picture, Tony!) |
We had lots of supplies to get up top, so a bucket brigade was established, with Andy at the bottom. |
Supplies, tote bags, and even the saw shown in this picture went up, and electrician Tim pitched in to help. |
After the work, we had to climb back down & step off/jump onto the boat. Joan's ready, but the boat had drifted away a bit! |
More waiting by Tony (last off), after helping everyone on top get down safely. Henry helped at the bottom. |
The lighthouse as we were leaving Saturday around 5:30 |
On our trip back to shore, my view was obscured by a foreign object.... |
