Woke up in a pretty town pronounced "say-this-fyurther" with colorful kit houses from Norway and a ferry that comes from Denmark & the Faroe islands once weekly. If I had a choose a favorite port, this might be it. It's pretty, the town is easy to get to, it has old buildings and a photogenic rainbow street with blue church, and we were in port that night until 11 PM. And I saw puffins, close up, possibly on one of the last weeks they were around before migration. I took a long "In the Footsteps of the Elves" excursion not described as puffin seeking, but I had done enough research pre-cruise to learn that it was a very good bet for finding the cute little black and white darlings. It did NOT let me down. The location was Hafnarholmi harbor. We also "saw" & heard about elves. Meanwhile, Howard went to see a World War II Museum and Maritime Museum.
After my excursion I stayed in town to see modest but colorful sights, fighting rain and a sudden swarm of Icelandic tourists trying to get that perfect picture with no humans in the way. Then I came back to the ship and Howard and I went to see a planetarium video and dinner. Surprisingly, I saw NO lighthouses today/tonight. It didn't matter.
