Mighty mountains in the AM haze in the fjord |
As approached Djupivogur, I saw 2 new lighthouses - Papey (pictured) & Ketilfes. My worldwide count today is 628! |
Aedarstein 1st glimpse from ship (saw it in 2021; wanted to visit it today!) |
The small town of Djupivogur from our approach. Life centers around the small harbor. |
Tendered in. Howard pointed out that our tender driver was an officer -- hooray for her! |
Tender boats went back & forth all day |
I found the long path to the lighthouse & after 10 minutes the lighthouse was right in front of me. |
 Aedarstein basic shot |
Aedarstein cutout framing Bulandstindur mountain |
Aedarstein ladder with mountain in back. (Yes, I climbed the ladder, though it was kind of scary way up top.) |
On walk back, I missed part of the trail & my favorite pair of Brooks shoes got covered with thick muck. (Still stained.) |
I also took Viking's included tour. It was mostly walking. We passed some unusual artwork. |
Audan's Mineral Collection was really interesting - as was Mr. Audan |
From Audan's we walked up a hill toward Eggin |
Eggin i Gledivik - one of 34 eggs representing different Icelandic birds |
I saw some fairy houses on the way to the Eggin. Many Icelanders apparently believe in elves! |
Ruth & Eggin (photo by tour guide) |
From the Eggin we went to an old fish tank, where we heard singing, with lots of echos. |
Bulandstindur mountain with Eggin i Gledivik barely visible in front |
Heart of Djupivogur, at the harbor |
Djupivogur port & tender location |
 Tender pier & harbor |
 Fun trash can |
Viking Mars anchored in fjord |
Tenders took us to/from Viking Mars, which was sitting out in the fjord a little ways. |
Ceramic hiking boots added a bit of charm to the harbor |
Mars had a special dessert bar in the afternoon today. Howard saved a plate for Nancy & Hap. |
