Island Hopping in the Palawan (Coron)

Our second day in the Philippines brought us to Coron. There was a dreamy sight outside, with fog covering part of the landscape at 7 AM. As we approached the pier I heard drumming, and looked out to see a high school band with majorettes coming down the pier to welcome us! Wow, they sure know how to greet a cruise ship in the little city of Coron!

I took an island hopping excursion which went to three or four islands. I had to be a bit of an adventurer, as the excursion entailed scrambling over things, getting on or off boats that didn't have ladders/ropes/rails/piers, swimming a couple yards from a boat to land, and climbing up high hills I didn't anticipate. But the rewards were great, and the island hopping very fun. I saw colorful boats and more of that wonderful Palawan scenery. I saw our guide fly into a lake to retrieve a cell phone when someone in the lake was crying and yelling for help. She was yelling a language nobody understood, and it took a while for someone to figure out what was happening. Dalton was a hero that day. A soggy phone was retrieved, for which the owner was very appreciative.

A woman flailing & yelling a foreign language in the middle of the lake got Dalton's attention. He dived right in.

Back on the ship, this section of the small port caught my eye.

I finally saw a lighthouse! There aren't many in SE Asia. (Howard warned me. This is maybe LH # 607 I've seen worldwide.
