Cork, Republic of Ireland
Woke up at 7, went out of our inside cabin to the top deck, and WOW - there it was! (Roches Point lighthouse, 1st view) |
Beautiful, and great sunrise (for once) too! |
Coming into Cork Harbor, around 7AM |
The captain of the Orla Bird was checking us out on this fine morning. |
A little later, trolling for food on the Terrace, I noticed the most amazing scenery right off the side of the ship - Cobh! |
My omelet got cold as I stared in amazement. Good thing I had my camera with me! |
 Loved this colorful sight! |
Cobh (pronounced "Cove") was the last stop for the Titanic, and is a pretty city with colorful houses tumbling down the hillside |
Took Oceania's "on your own" transfer to Cork City, which turned out to be more than just a ride to/from Cork. |
Cork has a ton of canals, bridges, hills & churches. |
The guide pointed out highlights from the bus & then we were deposited near St. Patrick's Bridge in Cork for a few hours. |
At St. Anne's Church, you can pay to ring the Bells of Shandon. Sounded like a kid was playing - 1 note every 2 or 3 seconds! |
