We had a sea day between Israel and going back to Greece. Chania (Hania in Greek) is on the Souda Bay. It really exceeded my expectations. Cruise ships dock in Souda Bay. I took the provided shuttle to center city Chania and walked down toward the waterfront to see the Venetian lighthouse. I heard music coming from a church with two different top pieces and peeked in. I walked past old crumbled town walls, old warehouses, and found the start of the long breakwater to the lighthouse. I walked out on the top level and back on the lower level, taking pictures of Chania along the way. The sight of snow capped mountains behind the city surprised me - this is Greece? I walked along the waterfront and explored the Splantzia area of Chania, full of churches, surprises, small decorative touches on homes, graffiti, etc.
