Flew nonstop to Montreal on Air Canada & stayed one night at Petite Auberge des Bons Matins |
Bons Matins breakfast room. Great breakfast & artwork. |
Our economy room had a whirlpool tub. |
Took metro to Old Port area to find store & creperie of someone we met on a previous cruise. |
We visited St. Josephs Oratory on Mont Royal. |
 Carillon St. Joseph's Oratory |
St. Joseph's Oratory with statue |
View from St. Joseph's including Notre Dame School |
Another view from the Oratory, including University of Montreal |
About 1 we boarded Regatta. We were thrilled to see we were docked behind Viking Star. |
When we departed Montreal we could see La Ronde amusement park |
We also saw the former Olympic stadium. Apparently for $20 CDN you can ride their elevator to the top for a nice view. |
In Quebec City the next day, we explored Lower Town for a short while. Here's funicular to the Upper Town. |
Place Royal in Lower Town was decorated nicely for fall. |
La Fresque des Quebecois mural was very realistic & showed historic figures from Quebec's history. |
We took a 4 hour bus tour (Old Quebec Tours) outside Quebec. The choclateria on pastoral Ile d'Orleans was our 1st stop. |
On Ile D'Orleans we passed this little chapel. |
We stopped at Chez Marie to sample maple spread on bread. This old bread oven was across the street. |
 Typical Ile D'Orleans house. |
Then we were taken to Montmorency Falls. Here's the cable car. |
Montmorency Falls are taller but not as wide as Niagra Falls. |
 Ruth at Montmorency Falls |
 Montmorency Falls wide shot |
Steps! If I had been 30 years younger I might have climbed them for the view. |
Stream waterfalls next to Falls |
Train to Charlevoix ran nearby. |
We visited the Giles Family copper factory. Mr. Giles did the doors at St. Anne de Beaupre church, a nearby pilgrimage site. |
Across from St. Anne were stations of cross. |
Small chapel built by "northwest Massachusetts pilgrims." |
 St. Anne de Beaupre. |
Church near Beaupre with fall colors. |
Loving Mother Nature's display from a bus window. |
Love the architectural details and the orange maple displays |
 Interesting church near Beaupre |
Back in Montreal, Howard went back to the ship & I stayed to photograph Chateau Frontenac |
Street up to Royal from Gare Fluviale, where the shuttle buses dropped cruisers. |
 The other mural. |
An idyllic spot in Lower Town, despite the fact that there were 5 cruise ships in town! |
Rode the funicular up to the Frontenac ($2.50 CDN for the creaky ride!) |
 Frontenac promenade |
Toboggan run opens in winter. Looked pretty basic! |
For sailaway, we were treated to a great view of the Frontenac & skyline at dusk. |
The Image Mill at the port is lit in purple; very colorful with the beautiful sunset as we left |
Incredible sailaway! Tomorrow AM we'll wake up in another port. |
2nd day of cruise: sunrise while approaching LaBaie on the Saguenay fjord |
La Baie, Quebec Province from the ship as we waited to be tied up |
Cruise terminal at LaBaie was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Loved Wifi/computers, car rental, freebies, blueberry pie |
Some of the greeters on the pier. They are part of the "Fabuleuse" show that cruisers can attend - quite a spectacle! |
Drove just outside La Baie to see this curiosity: Pyramide des Ha Ha! was made from 3K yield signs! |
Howard in our rental car along the Saguenay fjord |
We then drove to La Pulperie de Chicoutimi, an old mill. |
Pulperie - free, can wander around. I loved it. |
 Pulperie - log splitter |
Pulperie 1903 building with reflection |
Pulperie wide shot from bridge when leaving town |
Petite Maison Blanche survived onslaught of water equaling that of Niagra Falls over a week in 1996. It's now a museum. |
What can I say? I just loved the house with the dogs on the porch. |
Howard got this great shot of the (real) water coming out the back. |
Petite Maison Blanche was made into a whole park - very nice place in Chicoutimi. |
Ruth at Maison by Howard |
Nearby church from the park. |
 Maison Blanche rear |
Maison Blanche & church from bridge heading out of town |
It was Sunday & church bells were ringing at the church |
Then we drove north of Chicoutimi to find the humble Riviere Valin lighthouse |
Next we visited the Air Defence Musee near the airport. |
 Air Defence Musee |
Back in LaBaie, a crew member asked me to take his picture & then he took mine. |
I walked to a small craft area & on the way back spotted this cute apartment building. |
Locals came out to see the small big ship on this beautiful Sunday. |
YUM!! Cupcakes at tea today. I don't usually go to tea, but this time I did! |
The Saguenay River is a fjord. This was typical fjord scenery at sailaway |
Less than an hour out of LaBaie, I saw my first new lighthouse on this trip: Cap Est |
Near Cap Trinite on the fjord, Captain Hansen slowed the ship, got us close to the Madonna statue & played "Ave Maria" for us. |
Beautiful Madonna, Saguenay National Park. A nice way to end another great day of cruising & exploring. |
Had fun with my camera before it got too dark for pictures. |
 Sunset on Saguenay Fjord |
