Awoke in Barcelona with a lighthouse visible across the way.	Stayed a night in Room Mate Anna (fun, different, comfy & inexpensive)	We loved the toiletries - dental kit for monsters, shaving kit for pirates, etc.	Fish wallpaper in the halls	I took a bus up north to Antoni Gaudi's Parc Guell. You walk down to the "Monumental Zone" passing scenery like this.	This is looking toward the front of the park.

At night Batllo changed colors (seen from balcony)	Reddish purple was striking	And purply purple	Made a quick visit to Sagrada Familia to check out the progress. Supposedly it will be finished in a few years.	The Sagrada is dripping! Gaudi saw work on this begin, way before I was born, but it's still not done. (Hit by tram, died.)	Sagrada
There was a lot of new stuff compared to when we saw it before.	Don't think Gaudi planned to have a McDonalds sign reflecting in Sagrada's windows - sigh! We enjoyed walking around our hotel at night - still decorated for Christmas, so very festive	Passeig de Gracia with Christmas lights. Scooters & bikes everywhere	Not a Gaudi building but still interesting	So many interesting buildings	Howard was intrigued by this decoration removal process	Took the crowded AVE train to Madrid. Ruth lost ticket in Madrid at x-ray machines. Cab driver took us to wrong hotel. Ugh.	Checked into the wonderful Catalonia Plaza Mayor hotel.

Note the bear (Plaza Mayor).	Nice scenery but train was packed with loud young kids, so not so peaceful inside! We laughed over this store title	Palacio Santa Cruz. We thought we had found P Mayor, but we had not.	Homeward bound, Lufthansa offered & we took, an inexpensive upgrade to business class. So nice. Howard slept.
