Algiers
Ruth at the park with lighthouse barely visible in back |
So many ruins |
Back on the coach, we went a short ways to the Royal Mausoleum. There were donkey rides. |
And camel rides. |
The Royal Mausoleum, which allegedly has Berber King & Queen bodies, but no physical evidence of this. |
The mausoleum was huge. The mid-afternoon sun shining on it was magical. |
Huge traffic jam getting out - weekend crowds, big coach, narrow street! Took forever. |
Police did their best, but we brushed the trees a couple times getting out. |
Back in town, drove by the train station with its pretty artwork. |
I felt so bad for Howard, but at least he got to see Algiers from our balcony. When I got back, his back was a little better. |
As we departed at 6 we saw the huge WW2 Martyrs' Memorial on the hill |
Loved Algiers, and was sorry to leave |
