2019 MD Lighthouse Challenge - Pt Lookout

Friday afternoon drove to California, MD. (Note to self: Next time use route 4, not 5.) Visited Point Lookout State Park and Solomons Island. Stayed at an AirBnB. Volunteered at Point Lookout as part of the MD Lighthouse Challenge sponsored by the Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society. The challenge is to visit all the lights you can, learn about the lights and Chesapeake Chapter activities, and pick up a small souvenir at each light you visit. Before and after my volunteer work, I visited Drum Point and Cove Point lighthouses. Southern MD is a beautiful part of the state, and has quite a few lighthouses. (I ran out of time to visit either Piney Point lighthouse or the historic area of St. Mary's City - next time?) NOTE: there are 3 pages to this gallery. Push "All" at bottom of first page.

Got as far as parking lot. Was a bride walking down aisle in museum with mic, singing to groom. (Sorry, no picture)

Challenge volunteers told me to drive to Cove Point. I just made it before the gate closed at 6 PM. Lighthouse looked BEAUTIFUL.
