This bird is surrounded by three lures and masses of fishing line. I plan to ask the County Park Administration to send maintenance workers out to cut down limbs containing lures and line. I counted probably a dozen lures in this one small area. Such a horrible hazard for birds. I photographed a cormorant last year that was hung up with two lures and was still attempting to fish. Years ago I found a Baltimore Oriole hanging dead from its nest by fishing line. Recently an Osprey was rescued hanging from a bridge across the Susquehanna River by fishing line. Someone had to rappel down over the side to reach the osprey. Fishermen and women need to be aware of where they are casting to keep their hooks and lures from getting hung up in trees and bushes!
