These burros are descendants of burros used in the 1930's to carry visitors to the tops of the higher hills in the Black Hills of Custer State Park. They were caught in the devastating Rankin Fire of 2017 and all sustained injuries. They were cared for and most survived, but, sadly three had injuries so bad that they had to be euthanized.
