Red-shouldered Hawk

Buteo lineatus

Lake Kissimmee State Park
Central Florida

We found this hawk using this electrical post as its feeding perch. It appeared to be catching insects which it would take to the post to dismember and eat.
These red-shouldered hawks seem to be the most common hawk in Florida this time of year.
