Six-Horse Power

April 2014

This is a scene seen throughout Amish country in Lancaster County.
The Amish do not use electricity or gasoline in their day to day lives.
The one exception is that they must use electricity to keep milk cool in their milking parlors.

It takes us right back to the nineteenth century! A beautiful shot on that sunny summer day.

I saw this some years ago when I was in Lancaster County. Reminds me of my childhood. Great documentation Ann.

A very nice rural scene….that's a lot of horse power!

Classic image, Ann. When I visited my daughter in Ann Arbor last year, we went to the Henry Ford Museum. A large group of Amish arrived in a bus, and started touring the museum. It seemed so incongruous. V

A beautiful agri image Anne. When we were there a few years ago, we even saw women in long skirts driving large teams of horses and equipment like that.

This is a wonderful image, Ann. A step back in time.

This is a timeless scene and I love it. It is the same around Stratford Ontario. V

Well, not so many years ago, in the 1970's it was still the same in Portugal! I can still remember the fishing boats been pulled to shore by oxen! Pity, no camera then!
