Great Spreadwing

Archilestes grandis

This huge spreadwing flew in today while I was feeding the koi. He is a lifer for me which is always fun. It is the largest of our spreadwings. Historically, they were found in the southwest but are spreading North and East. A darner patrolling the pond at the time was not happy about his being there.

Looking through your damsel collection I am impressed by the number of in focus side views you are able to get. I can't seem to get myself low enough to do that and usually scare the subject off with my awkward attempt.
