Peromyscus sp.

White-footed Mouse or Deer Mouse

Caught this little one raiding the bird feeders last night. Not sure if it is a Deer Mouse or a White-footed Mouse. In all honesty, I did not realize there were two such similar species. He was running down the post at this point so I felt fortunate to catch him at all. I am leaning toward it being a White-footed rather than a Deer mouse based on descriptions I have read.

Great work, Ann, for a shot taken in a hurry. Tack sharp and perfectly exposed. Well done!

Gorgeous shot!!! I love these little guys. They often spend the winter in various bird boxes around the Fletcher Wildlife Garden. And I also don't know which Peromyscus sp. we have so I just lable them as you did! V
