Ring-necked Snake

Diadophis punctatus

This is a very young snake that was actually stuck to the garage floor by a cobweb. One of my dogs was sniffing at it and I realized it wasn't able to move off. The adults reach 10 - 30 inches in length.

I am thinking this is as large as these get. They are little fellas. Nice shot.

It looks very tiny. Good capture.

Oh well done, nice spoting. Great composition for a reptile shot as well. Is that a small spider on its neck or just a piece of the web? BV

Oh, lucky you! I have never seen one of these and don't expect to here, as they are very secretive and difficult to find. What a phenomenal find. Very glad you rescued this beauty. VV

Amazing info and image! I'm assuming you freed this little guy. Is it a baby snake?

Well seen and captured Ann. I have a very confused attitude towards snakes, but this one is a beauty. v

Very cool, Ann. I just saw and caught my first one in Sabino Canyon the day before you found this one.
