Lesson 9

This was a great lesson for me! WOW! Sherry wasn't kidding when she said it could be addictive. First, I worked through the lesson, following along by rote and feeling, okay, this is nice, now what. Then came assignment 9, where we're asked to use weddingalbum.jpg and change fill layer parameters as we see fit or exciting. My approach in the assignment was to create a new file and add layers as in weddingalbum.jpg, starting at the bottom of the layers palette and examining/understanding the parameters and effects she used. That's when I really began to understand the lesson! It was going so well that I decided to use my own image and to make sort of an announcement poster instead of a wedding album cover.

A couple of the masks in Sherry's image were complicated, but I found that I could simply drag those layers out of her imagge and into mine, which was sweet.

The possibilities were endless and I finally just had to force myself to stop and move along to posting. Eventually the gallery will contain the original caladium and face model pictures I used in this assignment.

The Lips-Caladium and Lips-Yarrow composites were made about 13 years ago using darkroom methods with 35mm slide film and 35mm kodalith masks. Photoshop compositing is SO much better!

If the images do not fit well on your screen, you might try hitting your F11 key which toggles between regular and full screen mode.
