Box Elder Tabernacle (Revised July, 2009 with interior shots)

The Box Elder Tabernacle is located in Brigham City, Utah--60 miles north of Salt Lake City.
This tabernacle is one of many in the Intermountain region and has a beautiful pipe organ.
All of the interior wood grain is faux hand painted to resemble oak and marble because the settlers could

To answer a posted question: Yes, the formal name of this bulding is "Box Elder Tabernacle"
The Tabernacle was rededicated in April, 1987
and the name is documented in Church literature
and Church web sites and "Mormonwiki.com" web site.

I love that tabernacle and have a large picture of it hanging above my fireplace. It has special significane to me, dut to the fact my great-grandfather, William Lampard Watkins sat on the stand with our prophet. He was also his secretary, a patriarch, school teacher and orchard man.

For many years my grandfather and his nephew kept the spires painted on the Tabernacle, working standing on swinging scaffolds composed of 2 x 10"s on big rope pulleys. My grandfather's father was janitor in the Tabernacle, so grandfather would answer roll-call at 'grammar' school, then go spend the day in the Tabernacle. There used to be a trapdoor behind the podium, where the water from the creek could be seen, and grandfather had a fishline. Thanks for stirring nice memories.
