Ben Green Memorial Bluegrass Festival, 07-2008, Dexter, Kansas

Ben Green passed away several years ago but he was well know in the area and had a passion for just playin bluegrass. Some folks still do that around here and he had an impact and was much beloved by others.
I myself, didn't know Mr. Green, though I had seen him at the Winfield Festival playing out in the campground and knew who he was. When I heard that there was going to be a festival honoring him I knew it was something I wanted to atend.
The venue for this festival, honoring Ben Green, was pure Flint Hills, pure Kansas. It was outside Dexter Kansas, on a ranch, 97 degree summer day, no alcohol, just fellowship and music. The crowd ended up being small, but caring and lovin their music.
I apologize because I didn't approach this as a documentry and I didn't get names, so call me and let me know and I'll add them in.
The Festival was done with a lot of hard work, contributions, and a shoe string budget. They hope to try again next year and all I can say is that I hope they do so. Ben Green and his family would like that.-----ron s.
