Just a few minutes ago.... Harvey the cat was under the bed with a shrew he'd just brought in from the garden. Husband Bob lay on the floor at one side of the bed trying to reach underneath, whilst I distracted Harvey from the other side. The shrew escaped from the cat and ran towards Bob.
"Where's it gone?" he says.
"It went your way!" I reply.
"Ooh, it's tickling my foot!" says Bob. "
...Aaarrgghh! It's just run up my left trouser leg !!"
Bob gets up, and together, almost helpless with laughter, we spend the next few minutes trying to get the shrew to reverse down Bob's trouser leg.... Ever seen a grown man look nervous ??!!
It's non-stop entertainment with our two cats, that's for sure !!
But I'm beginning to wonder. Is it just us... or do other people keep a supply of plastic food bags ready to dispose of dead wild things... or assorted bits of dead wild things... or feel guilty when they put the rubbish out every week because there are lots of little dead bodies in the bin bags... or always have the perfect critter catching receptacle handy for when there's a live one in the house ???
