Did you know... "downland is an area of chalk upland" ... ??! Whichever, the downs around Biggin Hill are a very pleasant place to wander and there is plenty of wildlife and wildflowers. Being allergic to pollen doesn't help though... I was sneezing my brains out after an hour and had to come home. I'd also been bitten by some beasties and collected some stings around my ankles so I needed a good dose of antihistamine. Who said mother nature was kind ?! It was worth it to get some photos though :-)

Update: Hmm, one particular beastie seems to have taken a particular dislike to me... one tiny bite/sting on my elbow and my arm has swollen like a balloon from wrist to armpit nearly and is currently a fetching shade of bright red. Pain ?? Oh yes !! Was it still worth it for the pics ? Well, can I get back to you on that once I'm not drugged up to the eyeballs with antihistamine and painkillers ?
