Oh my, did the heavens open today ! Admittedly, the Met Office had issued a severe weather warning for London this afternoon but it still came as a surprise. Torrential rain like we've never seen before, hailstones, thunder close enough to make you jump, and lightening too. I stayed inside the office and took pictures until it cleared enough to make a break for the station. Knowing of course that all the trains would be in upheaval - and so they were.
A nightmare journey home, lightening apparently struck the train driver's computer (I'm not sure that's entirely correct, but that's what passengers were told - I think it was probably just a power surge). And then the inevitable... the train was terminated four stations before the end of the line in order to send it back up to London. The operating company must have something against those of us who live beyond Elmers End...
